Describe Yourself:I'm a skinny old (66) nerd and non-conformist (on the inside). For someone my age I look pretty good after a youth and middle age of being plain at best. It's not that I got better looking it's that other people my age changed more than I did. :-) I am over educated (twice I almost got a PhD (two separate fields) but never completed the dissertation after meeting all the other requirements). I coach youth sports (baseball, basketball, and football for 9-15 year olds) as my main hobby. For my secondary hobby I have written and am trying to get people to read a science fiction novel, "Invisible Hand."

On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:Ideas to learn and to give to others. I have what seems to me a rather good understanding of how things work and since I coach compulsively I try to help people by explaining things. Besides after 8 years as a college professor I love to teach and lecture.

Dennis Gilman , Nov 19, 2009, 1:04PM ESTI read many of your comments. You mostly only hinted. I just failed to correctly read between the lines. Now you are being very plain. The last comments I read gave me the most comprehensive reasons I have ever noticed from you.
When trying to debate with someone of faith I often get the "with-God-all-things-are-possible" reason as the answer to why they accept contradictions in their belief system. To them all I'm diminishing God by not accepting contradictions and by my insisting that God actually obeys the laws of the Universe and follows the rules of logic. -
Dennis Gilman , Nov 19, 2009, 12:39PM ESTI see you're having lots of fun with Mark and Berf. You are actually being very logical which usually tends to throw men of faith off.
I'll let you enjoy yourself before muddying the waters again. :->)
I always wondered why you were agnostic. Now I think I know. -
Jeffrey H., Nov 19, 2009, 11:40AM ESTI see you work is radical about the view on "Invisible Hand" it has good an bad points, it sounds utopian, but utopian for all the good it does , does harm as well, the plan would call for an end to free education, the device that makes some become doctors over those who support a family, the end sounds like communism and socialistic support, this is part of what we are fighting against President Obama for in or views, our answers may be differing but our suport for eachothers differences make this gather network unique...

Dennis Gilman , Nov 18, 2009, 3:13PM ESTMaybe I'm having too much fun on the ". . . once saved always saved . . ." debate. I know that I will never convert you, or her, but its soooo much fun debating it :->)

Lets not and say we did, Nov 18, 2009, 9:57AM ESTI am a friend of Kim and I am on welfare. She is not trying to push your buttons or make you feel upset. We have both witnessed those who would use the system. We both hate those who take away from the ones who need it, or in some cases their own children.

Kimber L., Nov 17, 2009, 9:55PM ESTMy reactions come from the past where I have literally seen people pay for their groceries with foodstamps go out in the parking lot and give all the groceries to a drug dealer take a bag of weed then stuff their kids into the car and leave with nothing while the dealer goes home with all the groceries and the kids go home with the druggie parents and no food. I over react too! LOL

Kimber L., Nov 17, 2009, 8:31PM ESTLarry - i commented under you on K.K.'s article and hope you will see it!! Your friend on disability is not one of the people I consider lazy - he is one of the people I put in the category "someone who genuinely NEEDS help but isn't getting enough help BECAUSE of the people who abuse the system" I do not consider people like him lazy at all and he is the type of person I gladly help in my community with the volunteer work I do.
